Our Son, Ivan, has been the most enthusiastic homesteader kid you could have. (Beware: this post is about my son, I’m going to brag a little) When we brought goats on to the homestead, he was the first to want to know how to milk and take care of them. The first time our goat Clara had kids, he was checking on them constantly. It comes as no surprise to me that his goal is to be an organic farmer. He wants to raise grass fed animals and learn more about permaculture. It definitely makes this mama proud.

Ivan likes to learn new things. If we are butchering chickens, he wants to know how to use the knife and learn the whole butchering process. He loves to learn life skills, like cooking and thinks being a chef would be cool too.

Since moving to town, he and his brother tried out soccer and really enjoy the game. He has many projects going, and one of his favorite things has been learning how to film with his dad and build Lego Technic projects… Thus began his new Youtube channel and blog, Technic Gear Rat.com where he will be sharing his Lego Technic creations.

Ivan’s mind is geared to design, create, and make things. One day he came into the kitchen with a technic loom he built and proceeded to show me how it worked. Turning on the motor, the loom started to weave the yarn he had wound on to the spools. “Are you kidding, that thing works”. He has one video up and more to upload soon. So, if you know kids, teenagers, or anyone that enjoys lego technic, come on over and check out his new blog. I love supporting my kids with any new project they have, and it’s fun seeing them express themselves.
