My Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls
I don’t know about you, but when a mom or dad cooks something for you, why does it always seem better? It’s that way with my Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls, she made them all the time when I was growing up. I like them when I make them, but I love them when my mom makes them 🙂 Crazy? Or is it just a comfort thing? I don’t know, but I love these. Just a simple down-home recipe, my mom has made them forever.
My Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast or two tablespoons of bulk dry yeast
- ½ cup of warm water
- ½ cup scalded & cooled milk
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup butter
- 4 1/2 to 5 cups flour
Filling:
- ¼ cup organic cane sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup butter
Instructions
-
Dissolve yeast in warm water, stir in milk (cooled first), sugar, salt, beaten eggs, butter, and 2-½ cups flour. Beat until smooth, add remaining flour to make it easy to handle. Turn dough out on to a kneading board and knead about five minutes. Place into an oiled bowl and let rise about 1-½ hours. Punch down; roll into a nice big rectangle. Melt ¼ cup of butter and sprinkle cinnamon/sugar (I always wing it here and probably add more than that) roll up and cut into cinnamon rolls. Let rise 30 minutes and bake @ 375 for 25-30 min.
Recipe Notes
* I also put a glaze on this batch of rolls, totally up to you.
Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls show up at every family/holiday event and disappear quickly! And, if you ever manage to have stale or dry left-overs try making this delicious Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding Recipe. It’s delicious, easy and a great way to use old bread.
So, please make my Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls and tell me what you think. Was that a bossy demand or what? Sorry, I’m a first born child 😉
