 Homestead finances

Finances can be a very difficult subject for many of us, especially when we want to set up a homestead or a farm of our own. But where do you even start?

 Daniel and I have always had more energy than finances, and to be truthful we have had our share of ups and downs. Daniel and I married sixteen years ago, young and full of homestead ambitions. We didn’t know that much about money, or even how to handle it.

 We have always been hard workers, and during the housing boom nine or ten years ago, we thought we would see all our goals met. Just starting out as a young couple we bought and flipped several houses, and did very well at it.

Well, to make a story short we bought too many properties, and the
housing market went dead. We had to sell everything and even pay on
the closing of several properties. It was a couple of tough years;
everything we worked so hard for didn’t work out.

We moved to town, Daniel found a 9-5 job working job with a restoration
company, and we rented a nice big suburban home for the next three
years. Life was what you called normal; we were floating day
by day. If you read our story, this is where it started. Daniel lost
his job after three years (company closed its doors), and we had to make some life decisions.

After all, we went thru; I think we were ready to take the plunge and do what we always wanted to do… Homestead.

And Homestead we did, and we learned a lot thru trial and error.

Will be back tomorrow, with the top seven financial steps we have learned over the years.
