Daniel’s marinade:
Add the meat of choice to a zip lock bag, pour in olive oil and balsamic vinegar in a three to one ratio (vinegar 1 and balsamic 3), next you are going to add lots of minced garlic (to each his own taste), salt & pepper, and a Mediterranean herb mix. Let sit over night. When you take it out, let it sit at room temp. for a least an hour before cooking. This makes for a quick and super easy marinade.

I like PHOTOS, of what we eat and what we do. This blog is documenting our real life. We like beauty, food, building things, cooking ect. I want to post recipes and show how-tos, but that isn’t my main goal. I guess, I just want to post life. Daily humdrum in all its perfect glory.
This weekend was one of those perfect weekends. We cooked together, worked side by side, and had fits of laughter. Every bit of food you see posted today, are pics of what we made this weekend. We connected and recharged.
We have been using our Grandpa Jakes alot lately, and it feels good. When we moved to town, I was kinda scared. I have lived most my life in wide open spaces, and I’m a farm girl/mountain woman to the core. I like my space, and having to look or see my neighbors, well thats’s scary! I’m not anti-social, just like room to breath. So far it hasn’t been that bad, and we have been building a private oasis in our court yard, and I love it. It’s a different season in our life, and we are going to enjoy it.
My family likes a big breakfast on the weekends. Above Daniel barbecuing country style pork ribs. He marinates the meat the night before, and truly it’s amazing!
Cinnamon rolls below, I grew up on these. My mom has a super easy old fashioned recipe she’s been using for years. We had been eating so good all weekend, I didn’t even post half the pictures.
We decided the last evening to forgo dinner, and have a high tea instead.
I’m getting super hungry just looking at the pictures!
I had to tell you about this tea set, it’s my ten year old daughter’s. She wanted a big girl set, and we started looking at thrift stores and a few antique ones as well. She had ten dollars and wanted a really big set. I didn’t think we could find one for that price. However we did, well kinda. I ended up adding five dollars to the pot, and not all the dishes are even in the picture. The cups, plates, and bowls we found at a thrift store for five dollars, and the tea pot we bought at a local antique store for ten dollars. The white with the burgundy works. I’m proud she stuck to her guns and waited for what she wanted.
I’m leaving you with our mellow dramatic photo, I call it our period drama look 😉 Last week we took a whole bunch of family photos, and this one hit my funny bone.
