I’ve wanted a bar/island that would separate the kitchen from the dining area, for quite some time. I was keeping a close look out on Craigslist, but to my dismay I could not find anything close to what I wanted.

I told my husband about my dream bar/island idea… slabs of barn board for the top, eight feet long, Antique/rustic look, and the color red. The night I was telling him, he was a little busy, and I wasn’t sure if he was really listening.

Saturday morning he came out of his shop room, with some tools. I was wondering what was up. Then the boys helped him drag in this really cool forties cabinet we bought at a garage sale for ten dollars. Then out came some barn board, and a can of red paint! My favorite color.

My dream bar/island….
